Frequently Asked Questions DO ALL EELUM FIGHT? No, not all Eelum are born fighters. Some would rather nurture and protect. These are traits displayed as a child and the parent will go through great lengths to enhance these and help their child grow accordingly. An Eelum that is less prone to fighting would excel at healing magic and barriers.
DO EELUM FOLLOW A SINGLE BLOODLINE OR CAN THEY PROTECT SOMETHING LIKE A VILLAGE? Usually Eelum are guardians to a family line, or individual person. If to a individual, once that person dies, the Eelum actively seeks out a new master due to fear of growing weak due to a lack of contract. If they are sworn to protect a family line, they will do so until discarded (ie: pact is broken, someone from that bloodline tries to kill them, or there are no more individuals tied into the direct blood line). They can be tied to a certain location (ie: village, a home, forest, etc) but they need a shrine to anchor them there. If the shrine is destroyed or vandalized it is the same as breaking a pact. In this case though, the Eelum will not seek out a new master. They will become corrupted and attack the very area they swore to protect.
CAN THEY FALL IN LOVE WITH SPECIES OUTSIDE OF THEIR OWN? They can find partners within their species or outside. They are not particular to what they fall in love with. They judge an individual by their aura/heart. If someone is evil, unless if they were sworn to that individual prior to their downfall, they would never choose to be with that person. The only way that an Eelum would fall for someone evil is if the Eelum is corrupted.
WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON THEIR GUARDIAN TO? CAN THEY LOVE THEM ROMANTICALLY? Yes! They can fall romantically in love with the person they are guardian to, or someone within that bloodline. They can also love them as one would their child or family member - in other words, see them as a family and care for them as such. The former would be a partnership, the latter family. Please do not mix the two!
DO EELUM HAVE EGGS OR LIVE BIRTHS? If an Eelum breeds they will give birth to their child. They don't lay eggs! They usually have one child at a time, much like humans. Only female Eelum can give birth.
DO EELUM MOLT THEIR FEATHERS? WHAT ABOUT PIN FEATHERS? Yes they do! In their mini form the feathers they molt tend to be a lot puffier than the ones they shed in their regular form. When new growth starts they get pin feathers that at times can be a bit itchy and annoying. They'll often preen their tails, arms and legs to help ease the transition from pin feather to final growth.
ARE CROSSBREEDS ALLOWED? Unfortunately, no. If an Eelum has a child it must either be an Eelum or the other parent's species. There are no crossbreeds allowed.
